We are here to inform and set expectations of the new parent. Below is information every new potential parent should know about the length of time before you receive your new micro mini, the growth rate of that new micro mini and what to expect when receiving your new micro mini piglet.
Before Shipping
- Upon receipt of payment and verification of those funds, we setup your the Vet appointment for Spay or Neuter. The micro mini must be at the proper and safe weight in order for the spay or neuter. Females must be 4 lbs or heavier in order to safely spay them. The males can be less, but it is always up to the discretion of the Vet to decide if the animal is of a safe weight for the surgery.
- The Vet appointment can take as long as 7 Days to schedule. Keep in mind that most Vets are 2-3 weeks out for a Vet appointment, but we are able to get a Vet appointment for the micro minis within 7 days of them reaching the proper weight for their spay or neuter.
- All male micro minis require an additional 4 days after the neuter before they can be cleared for shipping by the Vet. The females take 14 days after the surgery to be cleared for shipping by the Vet.
- It is up to our discretion as to when a micro mini will be safely shipped to the new parent, even after the Vet clears your micro mini for shipping. We usually follow the Vets recommendation, but again, we have your investment to protect, and will do so by safely getting your new micro mini to you.
During Shipping
- Shipping via the airlines can be tough on the new micro mini. Not anymore tough than say a long road trip, but when your new micropig comes to you, he may have experienced a longer flight than normal, been traumatized by something on the flight, or simply may not be a happy camper about flying the friendly sky’s.
- Keep this in mind when you receive your new micropig. He is coming from a ranch where the only sounds he hears are that of other animals. Many of those are his own siblings. You need to expect that he may be scared, a bit lost, and looking to just get some rest from a flight that may not have gone as planned.
After Your New Micro Pig Arrives
- Our best advice, including our support and guidance after your piglet arrives can help you to bond with your new micro pig within a few days. Some of our older micros, those that are three months or older, may take 2 weeks or so to bond with, rather than the younger piglets at 5-10 weeks of age. With some time, understanding, and desire to bond with your micro pig, you will experience a pet that will quickly become part of the your family and give you years of enjoyment.
- Micro pigs often gain a good portion of their weight in the first 3 months. This is due to several factors like mother’s thick and rich milk or later quickly eating all they can to keep up with their siblings who are also competing for the high protein grain they are. We do call our smallest Nanos “Pocket Nanos”, but that is not to say they will fit in your pocket when they arrive to their new home. Nor will teacup pigs fit in a teacup. We refer to the smallest pigs in the world, which are available right here on Teacuppigsforsale.com as “pocket nanos” because they are so very, very small.
- Whether your piglet is coming to you at 4 lbs, 6lbs or even 8lbs, rest assured we will honor our projected adult weight guarantee as long as your following the monthly monitoring and care we recommend. What you will find is that month’s 3-6, your micro mini will not gain much weight, start to really thin out and be a very streamlined and healthy piglet now that he/she is on a feeding schedule and healthy diet in your home.
